Reviews about First Stop Swap Shop Inc
- ★ ☆ ☆ ☆ ☆2019-12-04, by Honest FeedbackFriendly staff but the offers were insulting. The manager on the other hand was rude and didn't even know his products. As I got my item appraised, a gentlemen was trying to buy a phone. Per his words, he was a repeat customer having bought several items from the store recently. The man asked for a deal for the item, taxes in. $26 to seal the deal. The manager came out and not only denied the man's request but went on to say he doesn't know phones and the guy will be hard pressed to find a phone under their "sale" price. Knowing what they just offered for a similar device (a laughable $30) and seeing them haggle a returning customer over sales tax, I was blown away. During the exchange I approached the customer trying to tell him I had a phone he could have - it was going to be donated before trying this place anyway. I'd rather give it to someone in need than support this kind of business. Of course the manager interrupted my discussion rudely asking me to leave before I could offer the phone. I complied as he thought I was trying to sell something in their store and didn't want a scene. Thank you for interrupting a good deed for a man who couldn't afford your inflated prices. Not impressed. Edit for manager's response: Thank you for your reply. I'm glad you made your sale. I did not question the quality of your products as the reviews here speak for themselves. I wrongly questioned your knowledge and I apologize. You did tell the customer that you didn't know much about phones, in my defense. My opinion on your integrity still stands. Sales tax is a common sales negotiator in many businesses - especially one that sets their own prices and pays bottom dollar for products. Let's not forget that you take advantage of people who need money by offering them the lowest price for their goods only to sell it at a large profit. On the subject of the phone, I agree there is a time and a place. The man had been talking with you for some time and clearly was not pleased as he felt he had a rapport with you as a returning customer. I waited patiently for you to make the sale and then wanted to offer an alternative. You didn't allow me to discuss the fact that the camera - what he was looking for in the device - is not on par with your phone and that if the camera is important, he would want to pay for the extra quality. It was a free alternative, however. I didn't pull the phone out, pull the customer aside or do it in a sneaky way. You said "It's unfortunate I had taken the liberty..."? - I just tried to have a conversation. I had been in the room longer than you had listening to this man's concerns. Customer service will take you far. I was polite and left quickly when I saw I crossed a line. No harm done. Not everything is about money, sir. Wishing you and your staff all the best.
